I was thinking about this cuz I saw some dude say that lyricism is antiquated in the hip hop landscape today, which I don't really agree with. It got me thinking though: has the art and craft of lyricism really developed at all since the mid to late 90s? Or is it basically the same as it's been since then? It's easy to draw distinctions between late 80s/early 90s lyricists and turn of the millennium - excuse me, Willennium - lyricists, but from there I think it gets kinda muddy. What do you guys think?
