honestly i was pulling for nate
but i had it pretty even. i'll have to watch it again for sure. i thought diaz mightve edged it, but on the same hand i could see connor winning it too. was too close. i wouldve been the bum who scored it 47-47
the only thing that makes sense is big john mccarthy was on joey diaz' podcast awhile ago, herb dean as well, but they both talked about how they are judged. ( i think they just changed some rules recently so it could be different) but basically its not about octagon control and all the shit the announcers have spouted through the years, they don't even weigh takedowns heavily like everyone assumes they do, they were saying its basically who is doing things to END the fight, like a takedown is great if its a takedown that drops em on there head, or puts them in a terrible spot, kind of like nate did there at the end, got it, wouldn't let up from the guard swinging away. but something like connors little trip takedown is basically "scored" like a leg kick or a jab. it doesnt make much sense
but basically the judges heavily favor techniques and styles that look to finish. connor set him down in each of the first two rounds, diaz was fine and coherent, but thats heavy on the judges mind. diaz came on at the end of the second, but he was getting hit with heavy shit most of that round.
third was definitely nate. probably the 4th too i dunno tho. the 4th and 5th were close. i lean nate cuz im biased. i gotta watch again
on my drunk live viewing i had it 2 rounds a piece with 1 round a tossup.
solid fight.
