you'll hear a lot of tips and bits of information in here, all of which will probably be good unless it's obviously dumb. The general thing I'd say is to take significant time out to stretch before and after working out. easy to skip and not give a shit about, but it makes a huge difference in how you recover and maintain a regiment. at least for me it does.
When I don't go to the gym, I mainly do kettlebell and resistance band workouts. you can do a lot of different exercises with them (youtube is clutch) and they don't require much space.
