Maybe when they get to the point you can strap on a set and actually like run around and react to the world you're in I'll rock with it but right now it's just a screen right in your face. Nothing special tbh. Buy a 3d tv and sit close to it for a more comfortable experience

I don't know. You could be right, but yeah... The running around VR shit things have been tried before, all the way back to the late 80's.

It could be the cost but it never seemed to catch peoples attention either way as the 90's and 00's never really felt the need to continue to develop something like that (could also be due to risk that companies took a step back) + it takes a shitload of space if you're going to walk around too. Huge fucking walking thing, looks horrible to use. The thing is that I think people want to relax or sit down when they play games, not run around etc. but being engulfed in the atmosphere and see it from a 100% first perspective view from your couch is completely different and why I think it'll work. 3D TV's are okay but I get headaches from them sometimes. That's one of my concerns for the Oculus Rift as well.
What I've seen so far from videos looks astonishing and I'd love to give it a go. Don't know if it'll be as awesome as I/everyone think but we'll see.
