Let's get into a new edition to the AOWL magazine.
King Keith presents.... "A Writers' Thoughts"
I'd like to thank all who dropped their thoughts in this fresh edition of "A Writers' Thoughts". This week, I asked a simple question, "What inspires you to write?". Let's take a look at everyone's thoughts:
So...
what inspires you to write?
Nigma says....
There's no limit to what I find inspiration from. A lot of the time I am observant of average and every day things around me, always searching for something that presents an interesting image, some twist innovative on wordplay, a cool sounding phrase that would turn into a dope rhyme scheme, an insightful multi-layered concept that could be formed into a dope topical I could twist to whichever topic it could pertain to, the list goes on. The magnum opus of my inspiration, however, lies in emotion. I feel like I can tear any verse up when I get have a solid basis of foundation, but when I have a strong emotion towards the subject matter I feel as though I am on another level and that the writing just flows through my as if my brain is just the middle man between the raw emotion and the finished product. Inspiration comes from many many places, but emotion is a writers best friend.

I don't know, the obvious answer for me would be surrealistic art, something on my mind, a cool story I'd like to tell or something like that. But that's just the surface of what makes me start writing.
On a deeper it's probably the need to express myself through words or just be heard in one way or the other without being interrupted and actually get credit for the shit I'm saying when it's dope wether what I'm saying is meaningful or not. I guess it's a way for me to challenge the worth of the abstract parts of my mind to an audience in a way they can grasp as no-one likes crazy.

Writing to me is both a hobby and emotional outlet. I can't nit write. Can you breathe without oxygen? Same concept for me as corny as that may sound. I usually put myself around all different levels of writing talent and frequently collab because i end up being inspired by creativity of other as much so as my own creativity. I enjoy truly crafting up pieces that take meshing of ideas between people because in my humble opinion its much more difficult and more rewarding. People inspire my writing. My life inspires my writing. And its fun.

What inspires Gen to write..
Well, there's a number of things that get me hype to write. I think number one out of them though, would be trials and tribulations in my day to day life. I write about the things presented to me, usually either the way I've reacted to those particular things or the things I thought about when those things came to be.
Number two would be my past, introspect on drug use, baby momma shit or just relationships in general, I've dabbled in satanism and difficlt occult views so I talk a lot about my demons on a more personal note than most people really understand.
Also, any ill beats I hear, or new songs. For instance, wheen I heard pusha t's "only you can tell it" track from his kaine album.. I was like holy shit man, and I just knew I had to play that track on repeat and go in as deep as I could at the time. My OM titled only you can tell it -the enomix was a product of that track.
Asside from thosee more obvious and probably widely relateable reasons.. I also like to try and lite a fire up under these dormant writers who I know have beenlingering around here on idle mode. My feeling is that, if gen can drop enough shit with some deep or just raw content in it 5han I will be able to inspire others to want to go in off of my threads. I can't even tell you how many people have pm'd me and told me how much they look up to my pieces, or what an inspiration my work is to them. So just knowing that is one of my biggest inspirations alone. Geno hears y'all, and as long as there are readers and people who get touched by my work -then I will continue to drop. I may drift away from time to time, but ill be here to spark that flame when its needed again. Holla, 1.

Hey, Life dude.. the dark and the light parts..
Say the horrible things on the news - Something that would be considered a miracle in my personal life..
Most times i write to flush out my thoughts, i joined up to this league because my head was cluttered.. After a week without writing i develop fucked up insomnia.. That week i joined it got so bad that i woke up in hysteria due to over powering nightmares..
So to keep sane.. i write, but essentially i am inspired by the sickness and the love of living..
Just Write says....
what inspired me to write was the ability to write things i could never speak in words. ive been through a lot and Im not good at expressing myself so i found that writing was a perfect outlet. when i came home from overseas i hard a hard time adjusting and went to therapy and pretty much writing was the only way i communicated with my therapist. and now i find not only can i let out emotions but also that inner creativity we all have in us, thats why im glad for this league. it has helped me improve each week. thanks for all the work you guys do to make this happen. i know nobodys getting paid for this shit so cherrs and mad respect.

This present moment, the thought, the instantaneous heartbeat we conceptualize with meaning. The waking idea that can destroy gods and create devils, I love this shit man; nothing is more inspiring then creation.

eal life man. I find that when my life have the ups and downs, emotion triggers my best work. Then I could be chillin and feet up with a glass of rye and coke, and start piecing stuff together and it just starts flowing. Some times I'll be sorta freestyling and I'll find this crazy ass multi that rhymes a million different ways, and it will spark an idea for a song. Im a total songwriter, whereas most of my writing stems from that side of things. I love the piano (which I really want to learn) so I like it in my beats. Im still perfecting my craft so I find that changing my outlet for music rounds me out so to speak. Or a verse in a song. Or a book. Im reading alot on the technical side of poetry, lately. I like a lot of different topics too. so the diversity of writing for the AWOL is a huge bonus. I've wrote a fair number of tracks for topical leagues which I'm super thankful for.
IAmBenT says....
I'm inspired to write by everyday things. Little events that go down, stories that kids tell me at work as a teacher, and just my own life and pain, the struggles I've been through and am currently going through. It's crazy, my sister is getting her memoir published this year, and I'm not exactly jealous but I know I can't get their too if I dig deep and get it in, so that's another inspiration for me. Also, seeing legendary and super talented cats in this league like Zy, RedGlare, Vulgar, Topical, CerealKiller, Pohfig, I mean these are topical legends and guys who drop hot fire on a weekly basis. How could you not get inspired and want to write something that can hang with what they write? Also I feel that every good writer just has alot of shit to say. I like this league because we have the forced topic, and so I will go research, and then find like 100 other strands or potentials for great verses, plays, stories, etc.! It really forces you to stretch and dig deep, which, as much as I tend to bitch about it, is really a great thing.
Umm other inspirations? Sexy ladies. Nature. Culture. Rap Music. That about rounds it out my man!
