Default Nameplays 101

Welcome to Knuckleheads txt class Nameplays 101.

Before we begin, let me display a few nameplay bars from top-tier heads.

Neighbor (vs. Murda Sho)
& I'm swingin 'til my knuckles get torn..
When I pull out the blade, you're gonna Daisho.. so losing to me'll be a double-edged sword

Neighbor (vs. Alvin Karpis)
In Alias Tourney, Oneduh MURKED him.. you can't spit 'hood shit
Cuz the last time Altoid with a fresh idea.. your breath smelled like BIGFOOT's dick

Beyond (vs. Paradigm)
His ex’s are ugly to add to him bein worthless on the mic.
Any bitch Paragon out with proves he doesn’t fuck Perfect Model types.
All them years being bullied left you scared like Poorich.
Even when compared to Hayley Williams people consider Paramore bitch.

Hush (vs. BROKE LESNAR)
u wack and look lame. chicks fantasize about me so u mad as shit
& the only bitches seeing broken dreams suffer from sleep paralasys

So there are some dope examples of how nameplays are done right.

For the lesson I'm going to use a random name I will create with a name generator.

Winner: Swagga Shank

Angle 1 - Fullname

So when approaching an opponent for the nameplay angle, you can take a few paths. The first would be the simple full name wordplay, so either Swagga or Shank. Here's an example..

Hoes don't wanna peep ur game son, they ain't hearin' ya
Last time we saw Shank in a bitch.. he was gettin' knifed in the cafeteria

I just used Shank without taking any pieces out of it, this is a more common approach. The problem with this approach though, is it gets old after that person has gotten nameplays thrown at him time after time, much like Bags nameplays. Eventually people won't think anything is fresh if it's always a Shank/knife reference, so you then can either make something really fresh, possibly a personal connection, or go with one of the other angles such as..

Angle 2 - Dissected

Dissecting the name. This is what you'll see some people do against vets, or just people who have had a lot of battles recently. You don't attack the whole name.. The problem more often than not, is single syllable names. But, you can still do some things with them... this is one better let alone, so I'll generate another name..

Next Winner: L Double Swag

So let's just go with L Double..

This is 2 syllables so it is much easier to use. You can take Dub out of it and use that.

So what are some things we can use to construct a bar? First you should just get the concepts ready, then make the whole bar around that.. So let's gather some possibilities..

Dublin
Dubstep
Overdub

Next eliminate ones that just won't work. I feel Dublin wouldn't be worth pursuing, since the Lin part would be eh. It'd take a forced angle to make it work. The other two would be good though..
So now all that is left is making a dope connection. It needs to be something insulting/threatening to them or their txt success/general success. Don't make the connection pointless, and ALWAYS avoid similes, they are lazy.

DO NOT DO THIS

U don't get what's dope, I got that Nas breath
All my bars are going Overdub like the song mixing process

Other than having Nas breath, this is boring and doesn't hit hard. Wording will be covered more in another 101 of it's own, but yeah.. Do not do that. You can use a lazier approach with metaphors because it comes out smooth usually, but if it is a simile than there is alwats a better way to word it than "u do this like this"

Here is what it should generally look like

U can't duck these blades, & u're scream blast the ground
The machete ain't going Overdub.. it's slittin' his throat to mask the sound
Srs u won't spar w/ me.. If it ever occurs this hoe smacked
If we see Dub step.. he's gettin' hit harder than the bass in those tracks

Not great, but just quick shows of doing something more direct that makes the bar a smoother read and not to predictable/bland.

Angle 3 - Single Letters

The last way to approach nameplays is just using the initials, or first letter of the name.. So, SS or LD. Or just S, L, or D.

This dude's soft, if you don't see that get new glasses
I'll show that Essay, bitch.. without presenting any papers to classes

^ There, just used S to make a nameplay. This unfortunately leads u into the possibly played territory, because a lot of the one letter nameplays have been done. So either do your research, or gamble it. This should be one of the last places to look though.

The double one can be a bit safer to mess with, such as SS.

U don't draw guns, & soon this bastards shakin'
We'll see SS catch a bullet quicker than attempted assassinations

It's more likely to not be played than the one letter, because there's less a chance of someone have SS as the username initials, but it is still possible.

Well that is all for now, I will be dropping these whenever I can. There will eventually be a more in depth Nameplays 201 after people get the hang of the more basic stuff in this one.

Class Challenge

Make at least one nameplay in each of the 3 angles (full name, dissected, single letter) on one of the following alias names...

New Names for TUWII

Dirty Harry
Simon Cowell
Tyler the Creator
Eric Foreman

Post your results in this thread, and other vets and I will grade them.
