Nine is great. If 7 didn't have the nostalgic tint I'd rank 9 as the best of the PS1 FF's but it does so 7 ekes it out. You said you got through the first disc and stopped, though, and I think it peaks on Disc 1. It's great throughout, imo, but if you didn't enjoy disc one enough to continue on it probably isn't for you. And that makes you a terrible person, probably.

12 is just a MMORPG without the O. It has its qualities but the storyline and lead character are weak. The best part of the game, like most FF's, is the post-game grinding and boss battles. The mark superfights are pretty good. But you have to spend dozens and dozens of hours to get the best gear (random chance, getting multiple rare loots to create items that you need multiple of to synth the goal gear, etc.) and the "hardest" superbosses are just huge HP numbers that take, literally, 3-4 hours to kill. I do like the game though.
