i've heard that before, the recommendation, i just couldnt get into them. i didn't try TOO hard tho. i started and maybe got a chapter or two in and just gave up.

which isn't really giving it a shot, but i eventually will.

the only book(s) i could bring myself to read after reading the song of ice and fire, were the kingkiller chronicles by patrick rothfuss. much different. i just like how its told tho with the main character being a badass in hiding just running an inn, chronicling his life to some random scribe while the world goes to shit

i want to buy a bunch of those compilations, where rothfuss, martin, abercrombie and others basically each write little short stories to a theme. like "warriors" where they each basically write about a warrior, most of the time in their respective worlds

but word i want to get into reading again.
