In the interest of helping cats improve in the NBL, we're going to take the time to look at bars that didn't hit, break down why, and demonstrate how they could've hit harder.

Here's the problem with this bar: the connection isn't a punch. You set it up, dropped the wordplay, and then finished with such a simple breifing of the concept.. All you did was say, so HERE's why it's a wordplay! You didn't make any punch. You didn't insult him or attack him. It's a cool and new wordplay that could have been dope. One problem I'd say took away the most is there is no break. Some bars you don't need a break, and I know I might break more than others but this is definitely a situation where it's needed.
How it could have went..

Or something of that nature. Saying he'd been on THEIR mantle makes no sense, he's not part of the royal family. You have to make it a punch towards him not just stating how you used a wordplay. Also, what's a picture have to do with it? It's on the mantle? Than why is he placed their FOR the picture? Of urns? Just remember it's a battle, not a display of who can make a play on words with no other work put in.

This bar is all over the place, it's supppeerr long and just turns into jibberish... the idea is simple enough to be a somewhat good nameplay, but the wording butchered it. You don't need to say so much to get a point across. You have the idea, Seyance getting advice about his future from the dead, which is what his name means.. You didn't do anything but say that in a poorly worded bar, there is no punch and no creativity. you just stated what a bar could be, and not in legible english. Using Seyance as a nameplay needs to be less predictable in general, just use it to connect his family/the dead with him and insult him/his family..

So fair grounds is a good idea. Sure I've seen it before but it's not uber played. Problem here is you made it too wordy trying to connect it to a punch. It ran on and got to long. The rest of your verse had short lines, and this was your close so maybe you just got tired of writing so didn't do much with it. Again like the others you don't have to do so much to make the connection clear. It's not that complex.

Not sure if you used sloppy in reference to sloppy joes to add another meat element to this punch, if so it was not needed.. again, TOO WORDY. Just keep it simple, you need just one point of connection for a punch, any more without the extra element adding real creativity is just to much and takes from the sting. Pretty sure prime/steak is played, but just in terms of working on wording you need to be more offensive and smooth with the punches in bars. I'd almost stick with the sloppy aspect, since steak/prime is kind of predictable and there's no way to fit rib in there to make it fully make perfect sense.

Eh, maybe quotable maybe not, but definitely a better way to go at it. If you're ever graspy at a concept like Prime Rib/Steak and you can't word it wel (such as with rib after the word prime) don't use it, it'll look sloppy like manwich.

This is gonna be a dope one, def BOTW...sn00p has been on a little streak right now an holding the title 2 weeks ina row, dropping some solid verses. Hes dope....Neighbor pretty much cruised to the title match w/ not much compo tbh, will he turn it up for this match? hes goin to have to if he wants to beat sn00p here. He has the skills. Im Lookin forward to this one if both drop fire like they can this can be a classic battle. Will sn00p win & hold on to the title? or will neighbor defeat the champ & be the new champ? will see.

This will be one of the battles this season, IF Neighbor shows. I know he has been showing and winning, but if it wasn't for the site deleting a day and going down for half a day, he would have lost by noshow. In fact the thread was closed already as a win for fraze. But when it came back he posted half a verse and ended up winning. Hopefully he pays attention to due dates since this is a short week and comes out with a polished verse. Sn00p had problems showing up but for good reason and was around keeping us updated on when/if he was going to show. Otherwise, he's been consistent and dropping dope verses. I hadn't been paying attention much before him vs. AK, but looking back he's gone on a tough road and pulled off an undefeated record and a Champ with a defense. Problems verse wise for both. Neighbor is super inventive but sometimes (not often) goes overboard and it's forced/jumbled. All in all though, he mostly drops quotables. Sn00p is just as clever and smooth with wording, but what could catch him an L is his fuck ups with pronunciation sometimes. Like that Takei line last week, it wasn't even close. You can look up pronunciations on Google. I'd advise that. This is a close call.. both are on a roll.. If both show up strong, I think it'll be a slight edge to Neighbor though..

Contender Match: Murda Sho 2-0 vs Lil Muffin 3-2

This is another good battle can def contend for BOTW, havent seen these 2 battle before. Murda didnt battle to many ppl to get here but his last verse was pretty good, he can drop flames & has, hopefully hes motivated to. Muff switched his style up to more of a URL type shit which is cool, he had some nice bars an can drop dope. This is a close one depends on style tbh here. Will muff win an battle for a chance at the title & trying to champ for the second time? or will sho spit that heat an go on to try to champ for his first??. Well have to see.

So apparently people like Muff's URL/txt hybrid style now? I mean SOME of it is good, I did like a feww bars last week but the wording is so retarded it kills the delivery on almost every one for me. I thought he lost vs. Des, but ended up winning in a close ballot. The thing is, that "gritty" style and sting similiar to live battles that would give him the edge, is what I think will hurt him here.. Because Sho has that aura and has for years, BUT CAN WORD IT. He's quick, smooth and hard hitting with his concepts and wording. Muff is a drunk Sho style wise. We will see a lot of ingn't nigga shit in here and a gun bar or 5, and I'm pretty positive Sho will come out with the more polished verse and more lethal delivery. Apparently I'm not like a lot of voters though, so maybe Muff will get a win barely. I still feel confident the Lime will prevail and that won't happen.

Hmm. Would have liked to seen a reg one here 'cus both have good concepts. Des is a vet who doesn't put full effort in and jilti is a new guy who does and swings and misses a bit. Would have been a close and interesting one. Pic wise, idk. For pic battles to be good you have to have the right battlers, not everyone is good at it. I can't recall a Destro pic verse, so that either means he's never done it or it wasn't good enough for me to retain. I don't see his style matching up great to pics. Jilti was good at using the pic vs. Sharp in their battle, but humor wise.. eh. Jilti is a hideous human so there's a lot of ammo there, but idk how much lulz Des can bring in a battle format, and jilti will be more precise and direct, with probably some old person jokes. I'd say Jilti wins in votes cus his will be more of a battle verse, and Des will be the real winner with more humor, but all in all would rather see a reg between these two.

I'm trying to be less of an ass in these predictions, but seriously how is fraze 3-1 and how did he get to a contenders battles? He is not good. At all. Just glad the planets realigned and he lost to half a verse and put back down the ladder where he belongs. He has the basic format down though, so maybe he'll elevate. I just don't see it happening since he's from back in the day? If he was ever going to be good I'd think it would have happened by now. Tic is on the rise and getting some good wins and accolades under his belt. He almost had the belt, and I think he can climb back up and possibly get another chance. He has solid wording and some cool ideas. He usually has some okay bars, maybe one shitty one, a pretty good one and one really dope one. My only bad thing to say is he's a bit simple, so some ideas are just fresh and smooth and not to complicated where others are played. I don't wanna Des style rant about losing via thread so I'll just sneak it in here, me saying you're getting better in a mag where I have to comment on every battler IS NOT a personal and anyone who quoted that and stole my rightful win in KGP can suck a dick. If we ever rematch I'm going to take small pieces of your post to make you look gay or somthing and write a bar with a basic wordplay and it will bring me victory and sweet vengeance. But yeah, even if Tac post eh he'll win.

This could be a sleeper dope battle, cred has his own steeze its cool sometimes he drops some good shit but he can be lil inconsistent that hurts him. Junto is good he worked the rust off an has been in forum hes in the finals of the grand prix 3, he can drop some flames to. this could be close.

This will be a GOOD one. Maybe BOTW depending on no shows. Cred is just coming back and has some rust, but that rust isn't generating terrible bars. Just a few played/okay ones. He's on the verge of tapping back into his dopeness I think. On NC1 he had a lot more high tier competition and still did pretty well. Once/if he gets back to himself he could definetly make a run for the title. Junto I don't know much about but he seems pretty dope. I haven't disliked much he's done at all. I saw somewhere he mentioned people wondering who he was and he is indeed someone we know? It'd be cool if he'd just said who he was instead of the shady shit. Either way cool to have another solid battler around. Cred might not be at 100% yet, so I'm gonna say Junto gets the edge on him in a close bout.

This def will be a close one, lotto is still rusty & needs to get his wording down but his concepts are there...eye is inconsistent latley imo, i seen him drop good his wording is there, but he needs to step his game up. This is really a toss up, hard to pick, depends on whos cleaner worded here.

This could be close depends which def shows up...but i think hes still more polished overall than wan right now.

Wanderer isn't terrible, could work on wording but all in all some cool concepts. If he can just focus a little and polish up his verse he could be a relatively serious contender in the NBL. Diso is okay.. he has a few good bars, a few shitty ones. Usually really up and down verses. If he ends up showing he'll have smoother wording with maybe a good bar, but mostly generics/simple shit with solid delivery. Wanderer can surprise us, but his wording and novice experience might get him an L by a little.. Close one probably.

Let's see what he can bring though after that L. c0up was impressive compared to what I expected vs. Hens, but definitely needs to work on keeping his structure more reader friendly and being more hostile in his attacks. I think this will be close, and it's tough to call but I'll say...

Current champ has just found some free time. We could be looking at a stronger Sn00p this week than we've seen for the past 2, and he's been holding onto the title for those weeks.

Neigh is dope when he has time and can put a verse together at the drop of a hat if he when he doesn't. Sn00p can afford to sleep or expect him to noshow. But he can't sleep on Sn00p either.
3. ill nik-A
This season he's only had the one noshow win but I have to put him pretty high up because he's beaten just about everyone around, and done it recently. If someone is going to have an undefeated run to the title it'll probably be nik.
4. Junto
His KGP stuff has been dirty. When dude has the time and means to write a verse it is not wasted. I expect at least one more contender match from Junto and when he has that opportunity he can do a lot with it.
5. Lil Muffin
BRAAAAT. Like the style or not most of muff's concepts have been fresh, and he's creative enough to make those fresh ideas solid hits.
6. murda sho
Haven't seen much from sho but he's had dope drops before. Now that his competition is picking up I expect his verses to heat up with it.
7. john hensley
Outside of being guaranteed some nostalgia votes, Hens showed he's still capable of hard hitting bars and can only go up from last week. Waiting to see what he does to move him up though.
8. jilti
Consistency. jil is a model for it right now meaning if more than half of your verse against him isn't solid, you're not looking good. But I haven't seen him drop some real bangers since his champ match appearance. A higher profile match should make him write better.
9. Cred
Dude's had solid drops as of late. Now he's up against some heavy competition in Junto which will really give him a stage to stand out.
