The only reason you give any credence to those Roman gods is because they aren't the current major religious force. If you lived in the Roman days you'd be at the marketplace yelling about Sumerian gods being the real deity, but not really because they don't EXIST.
I'm an atheist. But I'd rather hang out with a religious person who doesn't mind atheists than an atheist who feels superior intellectually to religious folk just based on his lack of faith. Come off it.

we shouldn't believe in any gods. we shouldnt also believe there isnt "god(s)"
the main reason being is no one knows. we all begin on the fence of sanity, the majority of people fall off at one time or another in their lives. one side is religion. the other is atheism. the middle, on the fence is sanity. now the problem is, the fence is old. it leans to one side. its basically falling into religion.
so when you fall from sanity to religion its much harder to get back on the fence. in atheist land its a smooth slope to sanity. in religion its like an upside down climb back onto the fence

my main point is no one knows. thats where all the evidence points. you can be ignorant to evidence. thats fine. that doesn't make you stupid. but when you are presented with the evidence, digest it and stay with your ignorant barbarous belief system, that is stupid. stubborn. mental retardation. your brain retarded the ability to make sense of a certain focal point in peoples common thoughts.
