Mixtapes often feature DJ guest appearances..never on albums to my knowledge.
These are just technicalities but albums also more often than not have a strategic approach(overall theme or premise, etc)
Whereas a mix tape can be much more up in the air, completely random even.

I mean, I guess I meant more specific to this album. Your initial post seemed really excited that this was an album instead of a mixtape. And while those things you mentiones
can be true, in this day, most mixtapes are just as much albums as albums. I was more interested in why it made a difference for this album to be a "free album" instead of a mixtape.
