Mike Brown's family said the right thing, what needs to change is all cops should have to wear cameras at all times. Ferguson police deserve to be held accountable because they actually have all of the cameras and gear but did not utilize them.
Stereotyping and racism exists within the police force and that should never be accepted or excused but if you look at what's going on in Ferguson right now, it perpetuates the stereotype. People feel justified in destroying shit and stealing shit simply because a court didn't rule in favor of the side they supported based on recanted statements and sensationalized media reports.
You have to ask yourself why would anybody want to make a common thug into a martyr anyways? Mike Brown robbed a store, beat the owner up and then once the video gets released, people loot the same store and burn it to the ground. Nobody gives even half a shit about the innocent store owner.

The problem is that people think they can glorify the thug lifestyle but get mad when police don't follow all the rules. You can't have both. People are looting and destroying shit simply because they want to, it's an opportunity for them. You can't tell me that anybody honestly thinks that peace can somehow be achieved and stereotypes can be changed by stealing malt liquor, weave and Jordans.
