You got to look at the history here as well. First Fergie retired, then a lot of shit happened with Moyes, new players in and several key players out (Vidic which used to be a captain for example) Moyes also tried to incorporate his own style which is perfectly reasonable to do, but stuff like that cause ripples. Then LvG comes in and does further adjustments + bringing forth his own gameplan and new formations which needs time to be incorporated completely into the team. If SAF was still around you wouldn't have seen these issues at the same level, I doubt you'd see these problems at all. That on top of new players and uncertainty + a team that isn't even top level will cause certain issues a team who have had their manager for several years wouldn't have.
But I definitely agree, the players still under performed and should have done a better job on the pitch. It probably wasn't fun to see LvG after that game.
