You load the woman onto the ambulance and it speeds away into the cool autumn night. Carmicheal walks by and slaps you on the shoulder, "you did right boy, you did right". You go back to the fire station and everyone is telling you that you handled yourself like a pro, the chief comes by and ruffles your hair. You blush. you retire to the bunkhouse and get ready for bed, sleep comes quickly. You dream.

You awaken in a library. You are completly alone (or so you think). On the table in front of you is a book full of names. You look and recognize some and some you do not. At this moment a man walks up to you, and speaks: "Hello, I am sure you have questions, but first, an answer to a question you have not yet thougth to ask....no". You look perplexed. He continues: "I have a proposition for you, when you awaken you will be faced with a diffucult choice, though you know not why. I adivse you to choose wisely.

You sit up and greet the day. You slide down the pole (no homo) and head to the kitchen for coffee and bacon. Some of the guys are already up and the festive mood of yesternight is gone. Chief slides the paper to you. it reads:

"tragic house fire claims the life of 44yr old". Her name was Erma Jean Grey. She was a mother of 2 and a grandmother of 1. Her wake will be held at Abraham funeral home thursday at 5pm."

Carmicheal speaks up, "Hey kid, this happens, IT happens, more times than I can count, the boys are going to take up a donation and go, you coming"?
