*sigh*

I wanted Cotto to win, and thought he would win. I shouldve predicted before hand. I thought they were going to exchange blows since Martinez has a very heavy hand, but Cottos left to the body would give the aging, knee-weak Martinez a lot of trouble. He went into the fight I think a 7-1 *? underdog which was kinda absurd, but given the last few bouts (in which he lost) he didn't look great, obviously.

But under Freddie Roach, he learns a lot of stability that was given early in his career. I was at the bout and he looked pretty fresh, that first round was pretty brutal. I think one of those left hooks sent tremors to Martinez cause his legs looked weak, he never fully recovered. The event was exploding. Everybody in an uproar. Second round gave for another knockdown and I think he mightve lost maybe one round? If that from there on out.

The thing is, Martinez depends a lot on his reflexes. His boxing is good, if his reflexes are pin-point. Then again, this can be said for a lot of fighters, but if you defend well and predict what your opponent is going to do by setting them up for predictable movements, your reflexes don't need to be Roy Jonesesque. I think being under Freddie gave him a revitalization that nobody else could have. Expect a ton of matchups hovering near the 154. He came in at 155 and walks around at that level. He can definitely give Lara/Molina Canelo (even though he doesnt have a belt currently) a run for their money. And the very, very lucrative thought if he does beat any of those guys will, yes- a gritty raw rematch vs Floyd Mayweather, in which you will see Mayweather not stand in the pocket to exchange with him. Cotto looked like a different man, physically, everything. He didnt look drained like he did was Pacquiao, he looked fit, big, healthy.
