Yes forget it. He's your pops always remember that. Occupying your mind with something else right now would be the best thing you can do. Don't confront him about it and just do the groceries next time with him and the following time alone so he doesn't start to even wonder. That's rough but I imagine you care enough because you mentioned it would upset you if he lied again and it would kill you if he was honest.
