My guess is the secret can be found in nature. And the chick with all the nails in her head, was trying to learn the secret, but in the wrong way.


Or the picture could represent how youth and ignorance changes over time, the more you take from nature the more you learn. Hence the young woman with the birthday cake like arrangement of flowers but no nails turning into an older woman who's learned a bit lost her flower, but still looks back on her youth.
