You're closer to my age, yeah?
Kids like Cake and Split say such stupid things because they've lived their entire lives with an internet. They don't know life without it and what a true revolution this whole thing has been. Our generation watched it all happen from childhood through high school. That's why I hate seeing myself or anyone born in the early 80s get lumped in with "millenials". I grew up with commies trying to nuke me, newfangled touchtone telephones, tvs with UHF and VHF knobs, VHS and mixtape cassettes, saturday morning cartoons, video arcades and pinball machines, DARE/McGruff, staying out until the street light came on, pay phones, and a whole host of other things the "millenials" have no experience with.
They're from an entirely different planet with on demand access to everything, "terrorism" / "zero tolerance", and an always-on, always-available social and informational web with unlimited information. They sure as hell didn't spend $2000 on Encyclopedia Brittanica or learn the Dewey Decimal system and Card Catalogs.. or buy their stuff from the JC Penney catalog..
