in text battling its even worse cuz you niggas dont even care about flow, so if you have a shred of an idea for a shitty punch, you will force that concept in a shittily worded line and then be mad when the readers have difficulty trying to figure out what the fuck your talking about

Very well articulated. When you're writing competitively, you write for the people who decide if you win or lose. It hurts creativity, sure. It's the primary reason why battle verses tend to look pretty much the same every time. But you write to win, or you shouldn't be writing competitively at all. You can drop a punchline-filled braggadocio verse or site diss in Open Mic if you're sick of voters and still want to write punchlines. But most of us are competitive motherfuckers.
