Maybe.. but that's a risk u just gotta take.
It's also best to take EXTRA good care of ur shit... like, run some coolant fans.. always power off the console when not using.. keep it dust free.. ect.
There's some preventative measures u can take to at least attempt to keep ur PS3 in working order, at all times.
