Haven't tried the bouncing ball game, but I can easilly understand why Flappy Birds is as popular as it is. It's simplistic, can be played everywhere (no need for sound etc.) and doesn't take much of your time (unless you want it to) while still having a score you can fight against your friends for. It's perfect for a cellphone game.

I also think Flappy Birds will fade away just as fast as it came around unless they make some adjustments to it.

When it comes to it being a joke (come on... it's free, what do you expect?) and the App Store being a joke for letting them have their games there... I can understand your doubts about Flappy Birds if they're making money off of stolen sprites, but Bouncing Ball game? I mean, if people are dumb enough to buy for shit without being critical about it they deserve to be used. All of them. And its success should be used as an example of how stupid consumers are.
