This may spill outside the realms of psych 101.... Have you considered that the true meaning is that it has no meaning? I mean, the word faggot could be said and the sender and receiver could have completely meanings in mind. Maybe people just say "faggot" to everybody because it's just a way to see who's really a faggot or perhaps it's just a term of endearment.
I don't even think we all share the same meaning of what faggot is exactly. For instance I watched a porn once where this Russian dude was banging a hot bitch from behind. He pulled out and skeeted on her back. Then this nigga leans down and licks his own batter off the bitches back.
