it was on hbo in the early 2000's i think. maybe mid 2000's.
you can probably stream it online, i just download and burn stuff tho so i wouldnt know which site to go to.
but it starts off in like 52 BC. with julius caesar on campaign in gaul. only 2 seasons but its just all epic shit
its all historically accurate, just a couple characters were made up. but they were real people, they just made new story arcs for them.
the two dudes in that vid. the one thats sentenced to death in the arena is titus pullo, and the one who saves him is lucius vorenas
in history they were both first spear centurions, meaning they were like sergeants or something i dont know what the modern equivalent is, but they directly commanded like a cohort or whatever its called of 100 soldiers. in history they were bad dudes who were rivals. they each would trade saving eachother in battle, like vorenas squad would be wavering and pullo would come and save him, and vice versa. they were equals under mark antony and caesar in caesars infamous 13th legion.
in the show tho, vorenas is still first spear centurion, but pullo is a common soldier under him.
its dope tho because it shows just about every social class in rome, from the first emperor(caesar) down to a pleb like pullo. and there are the slaves and everything in between
historical figures like HEROD and cleopatra etc
its dope as FUCK
but like i said i love ancient history and get boners for it. so any show that is good and follows the history as completely as ROME does is just amazing to me.
but without all my bias, its still one of the best shows ever made, the actors are fucking SOLID. the dude who plays mark antony is probably the GOAT just for his role in this
i was hoping they would give him the role of the king beyond the wall in game of thrones, but they gave it to the dude who played caesar instead. but the dude who played caesar was as rock solid as it gets too.
its really an A+ show.
