My The Roots discography rankings:
1. Illadelph Halflife (1996) - This to me is them at their best, jazz with good lyrics.
2. Do You Want More?!!!??! (1995) - Black Thought and Malik B. aren't great, but the band is.
3. Things Fall Apart (1999) - A little too mellow but widely loved.
4. Game Theory (2006) - Black Thought's best album, probably.
5. Undun (2011) - Really grew on me.
6. How I Got Over (2010) - The music could have been better.
7. Rising Down (2008) - It was a lot like Game Theory, but worse.
8. Phrenology (2002) - Rock critics loved this one.
9. Organix (1993) - The very raw debut.
10. The Tipping Point (2004) - They tried to be mainstream, and it failed, but the album isn't bad.
It's all worth listening to at least once and finding your favorites.
And back off the tags, Malachi. I'm taking my time to perfect the beat, and you probably don't even get that reference.
