This is what I mean when I say "conspiracy theory".

You are right - "conspiracy" doesn't technically mean quite that, but I think that "conspiracy theory" is an acceptable blanket term for all the things you talk about, regardless of whether they involve an actual conspiracy

I'll switch to "crackpot theory" if you prefer
