A torn meniscus is one of those injuries that affects everyone differently. Metta World Peace was back in two weeks last season from meniscus surgery. Russell Westbrook has looked pretty strong since returning from a meniscus tear. And a medial meniscus tear usually is less debilitating than a lateral meniscus tear.

Keep in mind, people thought Grant Hill's career was done. His issues were broader and worse. And he was able to play 544 games after turning 31 despite playing only 47 games total in the four seasons before.

Rose hadn't look like the 2010-11 NBA MVP this season even before last night. He was always bound to become more of a jump shooter, as he would have even if he hadn't had the injury because that's simply how players evolve. He may never make another All-Star Game. But I don't think his career is over.
