cold stone has been up and down the east coast for decades, bags. my hometown in nj got their first one when i was still in high school and we have plenty down here and ive seen plenty in fl.
they have a regional competitor here called marble slab which i find superior
as far as grocery store, there's a big local push in the southeast with independent creameries selling in all the big stores. i like front porch's strawberry rhubarb. you also can't go wrong with blue bell in the south.
best ice cream imo is hershey ice cream that the independent ice cream shops sell though (unrelated to hershey's the big candy conglomerate). that stuff is the shiznit.
best cold dessert has to go to real italian gelati though. i will never forget the deliciousness i had in florence, italy. it just can't be replicated in the us.
