that's not an excuse tho. hip hop has lost it's grittiness at the same time all these stars of hip hop did. just as WWE has. just as this generation has. it lacks that strength it used to have, because a lot of the older guys just show up for paychecks while the younger cats are just buried, as the WWE is. nobody really takes risks anymore.

& no, eminem has been like this since about encore/relapse time. he should've retired after encore and just let it be as jay should've with the black album. eminem used to rap crazy shit that was dope, now it's just stupid shit. relapse/recovery/encore/MMLP2 are all in the same category to me, it's like the Hornswoggle of rap. mostly just corny, filler shit
Lovegame is the worst song i've ever heard and it has one of the brightest stars on it in hip-hop today. i'm still smh'ing at it. it's not like they went "Renegade" on it, they essentially went Drake and that guy gets A LOT of slack for being soft. if Drake gets a lot of shit for doing songs that are soft as fuck, Em should be for Recovery and some of the shit on this.
and for examples, i'd love to do this comparison of shit:
typical wrestling before
u had ppl challenging the top dawgs (Spike Dudley) and the listeners of rap were like Jim Ross( BAHHHHHHH GAWD DIS IS A SLOBBERKNOCKER) when some dope shit was out, (HES CHEATIN PLAIN AND SIMPLE) when it was garbage shit.
the promo is like, on some fuck shit. u dont know what's going on, it's hype and shit's just crazy in general
wrestling now
the grittiness is gone, it's fucking corny as fuck. shit's just like childish and amateur shit. Michael Cole's an annoying ass Stan almost and it's shitty.
not as gritty. john cena is fucking lame as fuck in a lot of promos. again, michael cole, aka the annoying Stan speaks a little. ryback is corny, same with John Cena. it's not as unexpectable, John Cena rarely loses anything too
rap before
classic, gritty sound. biggie kills it
another classic, the beat itself is perfect. it makes sense and fits the track, it's dope. it's not on some sucker ass love song shit, etc. it's just some shit u can feel w/o making dude sound like a bitch, cause he's a MAN
hell, lets use an Eminem song. dude sounds like he's speaking to u while he's fucking raping u. son sounds pissed, the flow is there since the beginning, going with the piano, just spewing venom, shitting on your soul.
rap now
this guy's not even rapping that he will kill you, but he singing "you gon hype me up and make me catch a body like that.......ahhhhhhhhhhhhh" and using autotune the whole song. the beat is crazy but the lyrics lack because we all KNOWWWWWWWWW drake ain't killing niggas.
jay z kills neither verse, but the beat fits his style perfectly. instead, justin timberlake comes in and just SLAYS his part of the song, while jay comes off w/ shit u don't care nor know what he's talking about. jay been doing that for about a decade imo, the whole Tyson,Jordan, Michael references are STILL being used by him, etc. it's Watch the Throne w/o Kanye basically.
eminem now. beat sounds like some shit fitting for the Beastie Boys. Em says the "ra-hag" line, then the whole thing with "Kendrick...slink it.... picnic" is fucking annoying at the end of every line. some lines come off corny, the HOOK is sooooooooooooooooo corny. the song isn't gritty or even saying anything tbh, i've heard better songs to get ppl hyped/party. let me quote everything lame he says, and thanks to Rap Genius, it adds in hyphens of all the corny shit he says:
But girl, your body's banging, jump me in, dang, bang-bang
Yessiree Bob, I was thinking the same thang
So come get on this Kid's rock, Bawitdaba, dang-dang
Pow-pow, chica, pow, chica, wow-wow
Got your gal blowing up a valve, valve-valve
Ain't slowing down, throw in the towel, towel-towel
Dumb it down, I don't know how, huh-huh, how-how
anything he's said that was dope, like the aloan line was used by Killa Cam 13 yrs prior sooooooooooooooooooooooo, the whole song just comes off as a cheesy Beastie Boys mindtrick of a song. not authentic, not gritty, not Eminem. the beat produced by Rick Rubin is his style but the song lacks
