man, i'm still hustling 2 make ends meet,
it takes your word and 2 balls to survive in these streets,
the hungry are bleek, vultures that speak, birds of prey,
when money depletes, lord i pray my funds don't defeat ...
... my true purpose,
went from purchase 2 purchase, shirtless 2 worthless,
sunday wasn't the only observance - homies in hearses,
a constant struggle - this 9/11 shit, stuck in the rubble,
a grounded hero in ground zero - the atonement is subtle,
jay said this can't be life, but we're living proof,
that no-one ever makes it outta they're youth ...
homie its truth,
fact of the matter is, i've been madder than shit,
ever since, he's heaven sent, bent from damage 2 whips,
abandoning ship - not leaving me 2 dock,
my boy passed, clocked out without goodbyes and what-not,
now my nerves been shot ... once i had conquered demise,
but when he died it came as some surprise ...
covered my eyes,
never realized how much a person could change,
now my lifes been re-arranged - is destiny pre-ordained ?,
i still remain ... and still maintain 2 this day,
while family and friends make amends while we pray,
i tend 2 stray,
off the beaten path, retreat and laugh - always bullshittin,
hide all the pain inside ? who am i kidding ...
... free or written this game of life got me scared to death,
hugging the tech in sullen respect my pains left.
still i see the broken streets - some wanting a place to eat,
others encased in defeat by shells, or erased disease.
where's the sanctuary so the children can sleep?
a coffin's the only home where they're mothers can weep.
and shudder to think, some people rely on shady schemes,
robbing from the poor & just delaying dreams.
so where's the bright side of this story? in our youth,
it's staring you, right in your eyes, so really, face the truth.
