Clash of the market. The worker is a commodity to be captured and harnessed.
Natural law is the most absurd form of optimism,
All social constructions serve their dominant economic system,
Economics controls law, ideology, culture and overarching class divisions.
Feudalism, Capitalism and Communism are all the same organism.
It’s not a bad thing; the change begins in the mode of production,
The printing press, the internet, assembly lines and over-consumption,
Railways, shipping lanes and piston driven motor propulsion,
A sudden increase in productivity is the only method to change the dominant economic ideology and overthrow its assumptions.
No other social construction can develop the necessary force,
Finance is greater than any collection of individual pressure and thought,
Each current ruling economic system is protected through law,
And this is the same regardless of culture and the governments form –
It’s the same from autocratic absolution to democratic constitutions,
It’s the same from Western Magistrates and Jurists to Islamic jurisprudence.
For example, the British Naval Empire created contract law to resolve shipping disputes,
While Sharia law created the Zakat and Jizya to tax individuals and institutes.
The difference is minute, both examples show economically the law is simply a servant,
While public international law is a dose of phantasy for a medicinal purpose,
Witness the rampaging corporate colonialism for indigenous workers,
And the patenting of genetic information - combine DNA like acquisitions and mergers.
It’s ethical if it’s profitable. Sacrifice future responsibility for current productivity.
But if this economic drive did not exist the whole system would stop instantly,
Individuals on the website arguing about personal rights and government conspiracy,
Not realizing it’s the old debate between Hobbe’s Leviathan and Locke’s liberty.
Unsolvable, unknowable, both positions are equally valid and invalid,
Neither really matters. Economic ideology will still regulate how you live.
And this economic ideology doesn’t change unless production does,
Anything can become legal during depressions and economic slumps.
“The worker is a commodity” – a single purpose to be sold and bought,
To use two extreme examples: Slavery and the Holocaust,
Slavery was the most efficient labor for working on the farms,
While dispossession of the Jews provided funds for German lebensraum.
In both situations race was used as an excuse, the real motivation was economic,
It doesn’t change the injustice of it, but justice is nothing compared to its underlying financial concepts.
So call me cynical or critical, Natural law or Posited law I think it’s all miniscule,
I’ll return to the original point and finish up all nice and cyclical,
Law is subservient. Economic ideology is the supreme individual.
