I stopped battling because the formula was simple. Anything that's voted on becomes a popularity contest. Style usually becoming the deciding factor depending on which site you're on. It's fun to do from time to time, but after a few months it just gets old. It does keep you sharp, though. Always writing and coming up with concepts.

Frank Metts. Good writers move on to something more challenging, because battling limits what you can do with a verse. People who know what they're doing learn what wins battles and what doesn't, and if you're worried about winning then you're trapped in that formula box.
