this are what I mean when I say you need to stress what even a not-very-good writer is doing right in order to get them to consider what you're saying they're doing wrong. If you're leaving feedback, the reason is to help the writer improve. Sometimes that means highlighting strengths. Other times that means pointing out weaknesses. Ideally, that means both.
