What I noticed with my youngest brother was he didn't register pain until we did, if he fell over and cut his knee and nobody said anything he would just get up like nothing happened, but if he fell and people rushed over to see if he was ok he would then register the pain as something that should be responded to and begin to cry....so maybe it is an adult human thing to dwell on pain, because animals don't do it either, maybe it is something we learn to do.
