Seen this on reddit
a number of years back a "pre-historic" species of shark that lives in like the deepest areas of the ocean swam up to surface near Japan..
I'd bet this is another ancient deep, deep ocean animal. Or maybe not even ancient, there are areas of the ocean that human simply cannot reach - where we have literally /no idea/ what goes on or lives there.
What would cause it to surface is the real mystery.
