Courage.

"You can never cross the Ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore." - Christopher Columbus.

Waking up in cold sweats, nightmares of what's to come
talking to these old vets, horrific tales of them holding guns
I second guess myself every night since I got my ship date
war beckons a farewell but I wonder all the time, "is this fate?"
She says I'm stuck in my selfish ways, how could I leave her side
deep inside I wonder if shes right, but I say "I'm making a future for you and I"
My girl is my beach, a paradise to rest my feet when their sore
a place away from the heat, but now my fleet's leaving shore
across the ocean we are floatin' and to the streets we bring war
It takes a lot to leave the ones you truly love
pull that anchor up & leave for lands you know nothing of
but while I'm away with my crew, on our call of duty
I'm hoping my beach will stay & doesn't wash away
I'm forever thinking about that flawless booty
as I return to family and the ones I love
the beach is there waiting for me, it just shows what courage does
I dig my feet in the sand again, glad to be home
I hear kid's laughter, here to join me on my throne
never be afraid to lose site of the shore
having courage is to choose your destiny, and not live life as a bore

One typing error: "when they're sore"

This piece was extremely good and, on an emotional level, struck me tightly.

Your words struck me, even though I have never gone off-shore to protect the ones I adore.

I'm +'in for this.
