Civil disobediance is the answer.

If enough people did it, it would.

It's a gradual process that has to start with one, or a few people...every time there is a positive result (look up the E15 mothers in London) it will encourage others and evoke the bravery in them to do the same. Everything has a beginning...what we can't do is say 'Nobody else is doing it so I won't either' because with that way of thinking nothing will change, which plays in to the hands of those who do not want change ie large corporations, etc.
