Statement-ish lines work much better in audio. Text writers don't judge verses as whole entities. This is mostly due to cheating, and how voters had to start breaking down verses to show their opinions more clearly. In doing so voting became formulaic and lazy. People who know better read good statement-ish shit and recognize it's good. Others see it as a collection of mediocre punchlines they couldn't bite and tell their boys they wrote.
