interesting, though you have to wonder how the value of a painting would be affected by removal and folding. I was thinking of having legally purchased songs etc on human dna, since a gram of dna can hold ~700 terabytes of information, and it costs significantly more initially.

I'd think that it would take quite a bit to reduce the value of the Mona Lisa. It was valued at $100 million in 1962. Based strictly on inflation, that's more than $776 million now. And you'd think you'd be able to fit a bunch of paintings into a shoe box if folded carefully.

I don't know if folding will drastically reduce its value, since it's still a one of a kind original iconic piece of part etc etc. But collectors drive the market, and I'm doubtful that people would pay top dollar for a creased Mona Lisa. I guess the question is, how big is that painting (and others)/how much of a folding strain will it require to fit them neatly in a shoebox?
