muzzl3's 500 word essay about what hiphop means to him (hes an om guy?) OPEN FOR ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW

Many of my friends in Vegas produce beats or are MC's. I like the simplicity and cleanliness of most hip hop that I've heard. I like how the words do not necessarily harmonize with the music's melodies, thus making the words more clearly heard. I like that hip hop is a form of letting out emotions, and that it is a way to apply poetry to music. I was a teen while the whole east vs west thing was going on, and I listened to mostly west coast gangsta rap, but also several MC's from Vegas (my favorite was Wu Tang). I like that positive messages can be put forward in the form of hiphop, despite the fact that its been given a bad rap by a lot of the stuff that has negativity in it. I don't like trends, and if hip hop was trendy music, it wouldn't have made it passed the 90's. I produce beats and am looking for MC's to drop in my studio, as my voice sucks... but I can write a little bit (mostly poetry).

I like most of underground hip hop and I frown upon major record labels. I enjoy listening to hip hop (amongst other things) on soundcloud. I enjoy the fact that noise music can be applied towards the hip hop genre. I like listening to dope flows, and sometimes I can't understand what MC's are saying because they rhyme so quickly... but I still dig it.

When I listen to music, I rarely focus on the vocals; and with hip hop, you kind of have to. Now that my interest has turned more directly towards producing hip hop, I am listening to the vocals more carefully; and it has brought a greater appreciation towards hip hop music in general.

One thing I quite enjoyed was going to the hip hop roots shows and being accepted as a white, nerdly looking guy. Shit, my boy Hassan Hamilton got voted top MC of 2014 by Las Vegas Weekly magazine... and he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet (until he steps on the mic, lol).

As an artist, who appreciates others' art work... I listen to a wide variety and create a wide variety of music (mostly electronic noise), but hip hop has always been one of those genres that has been in my heart. And, now that I'm spending time writing poetry (more targeted towards hip hop, which I have rarely done in the past), this forum gives me an outlet to where perhaps some people will read my stuff & make positive responses... then I can go look for their stuff and read/reply. I dig it. I mean, I can continue posting blogs and stuff, but that won't get views of people (especially from experienced writers and MC's).

Hip hop may not be my favorite musical genre, but I appreciate it a lot more than many others. One example of simplicity being beautiful is Kid Cudi. He doesn't rap fast, but what he says has very clear meaning. First times I heard his album, I didn't like it... but then it got stuck in my head, and now he's one of my favorites.

Probably one of my most favorite things about hip hop is it is a musical platform that allows people to let out their emotions, and to have others appreciate it and relate to it.

One thing that I wonder is: how many people who are on here do not perform rap in front of crowds (like me). Battles via text seem a lot different when one can use google! I don't really plan on using the battles section (unless I get called out and feel its worth my time). I appreciate this forum because it allows me to have an outlet to where other writers and real MC's have the option of reading it and giving feedback.

Thank God for wordcounter.net! I thought I had 500 words after the first paragraph..

A bit much repetition of certain words but overall decent work, cool shit. Hope he posts a pic (or sends one to a mod for confirmation) because I'd like to see him get all the posting privileges and be inducted into the forum as a worthy member of our community. Well written theMuzzl3.

I'm not sure how to post a picture, but I uploaded 3 of them to my pictures section of my profile. Oh wait, I think I figured it out. Thanks for the positive replies, LOL at any that were intended to flame.

Yeah, I know I used a lot of the same words -- that was mostly out of laziness, but also on purpose. I notice verses of stuff nowadays that use the exact same word to rhyme several lines.

My avatar is also a self-portrait from my younger years.

You're right, you have posted pictures of yourself. Thought this one was pretty cool:

What is OM?

And how can I upload a jpg pic & put the right [img.whatever] tag in front of it so that it looks larger on the forum? The pics I posted on a thread were tiny until you click them.
