As long as the Spider-man rights belong to Sony, anything they do within that universe is doomed. Sam Raimi's Spider-man 2 was everything I've wanted from Spider-man. Since then, and more specifically with TASM, it has been a complete mess. TASM 2 was horrendous with the only highlights being the Green Goblin's transformation and Gwen Stacy's death. Even then. The Sinister 6 can't even save this franchise. The rights need to revert back to Marvel so they can allow for continuity and crossovers. The new FF will be trash. The best thing Sony has going for them is XM: FC and XM: DOFP. But even that took YEARS to accomplish.

With that said, a movie with Venom, Carnage, and Toxin would be awesome.

Yeah but TASM has felt so rushed. The first one basically went from being Peter Parker to Spider-man with seemingly no effort then immediately on to defeating The Lizard. Having 2 origin stories back to back in with the reboot was a terrible idea. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man development was much more intimate and a slower build. You could actually relate to Peter Parker's burden of responsibility. The new Spider-Man is basically the smart-ass we always wanted without any vested interest in him or his teen angst.

And he's a much worse Peter Parker.
