Guardians of the Galaxy tho.

Holy fuck was that a great movie

Might be Marvel's best yet

srs.

and that post-credits cameo

my god

Certain 08-02-2014 08:52 PM

I liked it quite a bit, but I'd say Avengers and (though not by Marvel Studios) X2 remain the standard-bearers. It probably was the funniest Marvel movie.

I think the comedy is what really set it apart for me - it's the first movie to ever really get "comic book snarky humor" right. I wish this guy was also doing Deadpool.

Are they going to try to pull together an Infinity Gauntlet movie?

yep, already planned. marvel has all their movie releases and storyboards done through 2018 last i saw.

as a kid in the 80s, how bout that finale cameo tho certain

oats 08-02-2014 10:05 PM

Saw it last night, really enjoyed it. Didn't stay for the end of credits - what was the cameo?

Certain 08-02-2014 10:05 PM

The cameo at the end was funny. The Infinity Gauntlet is fucking ridiculously confusing. Comic book nerds are going to be so pissed when they simplify it.

they did a good job piecing together a summer blockbuster out of extremely minor characters in the marvel universe and most of which were in the group at different times

i think they'll manage

my biggest sore point is we can never have galactus or silver surfer in this universe because Fox

so dumb

i'll give you a hint:

duckworld

Not having Silver Surfer or Fantastic Four rights complicates keeping things within the comics' story line for The Infinity Gauntlet. They really ought to make a Warlock movie before that undertaking.

i dunno, supposedly thanos is the next big bad in avengers canon

he was already referenced in the first one, no?

Ghost1 08-02-2014 10:27 PM

Yea hes the scene after the credits

Certain 08-02-2014 10:28 PM

Yeah, but Warlock is the central hero in the Infinity Gauntlet story line, with Silver Surfer being pivotal as well (and Galactus, whom I presume Fox also owns rights to, was incredibly important along with him).

Thanos was introduced at the end of Avengers.

I'd expect Warlock to be in GotG 2 then. No way he gets a standalone movie. Too obscure for the general public. GotG worked because of the ensemble.

Diode 08-02-2014 10:31 PM

IG prob won't start until late 2017 at the least. We still have Dr. Strange to deal with..

Certain 08-02-2014 10:34 PM

Apparently Warlock has been integral in Guardians of the Galaxy comics over the past decade.

oats 08-02-2014 10:35 PM

did you guys all read the comic books?

apparently his cocoon was in the collector's room at the end of thor 2

Certain 08-02-2014 10:35 PM

I used to read a lot as a kid, though I focused on X-Men.
