Anyone still in school

You have to apply a system of relationships for a poem?

Are you doing online schooling? Lmao.

Inno 07-08-2013 01:16 PM

I actually go to school lol.

Its for my literally theory class.

I just cant find anything helpful...nothing I find actaully explains
The theory..they just describe it.

I basically dont know where to start

Lecture 07-08-2013 01:18 PM

That wasn't very helpful.

Structuralism considers language as a system of signs and signification.. how elements relate to each other and the initial system they are implied in.. kinda challenges the belief that literature reflects a given reality..

So I take it you have to analyzed it by examining structures such as characterization or plot and show how these patterns are universal and can be used to develop a general conclusion.

veritas 07-08-2013 01:20 PM

how does this poem fit into a greater picture?

Structuralism = how does whatever is being looked at fit into a larger picture.

what is the larger picture this poem is dealing with....and how does it fit.

Rawn M.D. 07-08-2013 01:22 PM

Ya just analyze the literary devices and use them to address society or the real life issues that pertain w the literature ur reading

veritas 07-08-2013 01:22 PM

structuralism also relies heavy on introspection fyi.

Lecture 07-08-2013 01:30 PM

I meant my initial post wasn't very helpful.

Here you go, just pay attention to the first method.
Might help, might not.

veritas 07-08-2013 02:14 PM

Tichener and wundt were big into using introspection to try and explain cognitive processes.....the behaviorists hated this lol.

dead man 07-08-2013 02:24 PM

have fun with that

i don't know enough about this to confidently offer you any insight, sorry braj

Inno 07-08-2013 02:44 PM

This is possibly one of the easiest assignments you could be given IMO

As a Libertarian I feel it fits in quite well with current times

Are you having trouble with the poem itself or just breaking it down in the structuralist theory?

veritas 07-08-2013 07:43 PM

knuck you came off real rawn right there playa...just saying.

Ghost1 07-08-2013 07:47 PM

Shock of my life. Rawn was an expert on this......as soon as sum1 else explained. Foh.

~RustyGunZ~ 07-08-2013 07:47 PM

That is the highest of insults, V

I go to an ivy league school though, so even if it did at least it has merit

veritas 07-08-2013 08:12 PM

Ive started but still having trouble filling 3 pages...I lnow three pages isnt alot.
But when u dont know shit about the subject it can be time consuming lol.

Best of luck Innovator, never done anything like this so I doubt I'll be of any help except for some googling. Seems like a few of the others in here got quite the knowledge or know how to approach the task correctly. I can only come with assumptions, as opposed to claim I know a shitload based on what others have said and give pointers, I will not do that.

Best of luck with your assignment, you're a smart fella, I bet you'll do just fine. Peace.
