Franklin the goat

oats 07-12-2014 06:26 PM

Franklin is a close second for me. They're all major beasts in their own right - Washington for stepping down and not becoming a dictator (which would have been easy for him to do since he was so regarded by just about everyone in the country following independence), Jefferson being the ideological backbone and wordsmith, etc. We had great minds that engineered our country.

lol... How do you like Hawaii btw? Have you gotten use to it since you live there or are you still awed?

oats 07-12-2014 08:04 PM

well, I'm originally from Hawaii, moved here when I was a little kid, so it was never something I felt like I had to acclimate to. But it is easy to take for granted how physically beautiful the place is. As an example, when I've travelled to countries with beaches of their own, including Brazil just recently, I'm always really unimpressed by it, because I grew up next to a vastly more beautiful beach within walking distance. I try to put myself in the mindset to allow myself to be awed though, because it's really an amazing place. I couldn't imagine raising a family anywhere else, and plan on returning here when I've settled within myself and accomplished my goals (really low ceiling here, not a lot of opportunity). @Aero the Apex

James Madison was the writer and editor of the bunch. He also balanced nicely what I like about Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson.

Destroyer 07-12-2014 09:24 PM

The writer and editor of the bunch? I'm going to have to say that that is Franklin as well.

Certain 07-12-2014 09:25 PM

James Madison was the primary author of the Constitution and a key writer and editor for the Federalist Papers and Declaration of Independence.

Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson both were very prodigious writers and editors, but Madison was known for his ability to turn a phrase.

Destroyer 07-12-2014 09:29 PM

yeah, but did he edit Poor Richards Almanac?
no, no he didn't
