Does anybody have that new Kanye album?
I don't think it's a classic -- to me its an extension from his last solo album and the thrones. I find it to be a bit hypocritical of Kanye because he's trying to spread social consciousness while at the same time wang a chick who is cracked out on the spotlight and commercialism.
What do you all think? |
I bought it. I dont think its as contradictory as people make it out to be. It seemed like he painted a satirical portrait of himself with some of the lyrics, biggest example is in I am a god. Also, I dont think kanye went full anti consumerist on here. He still wants to make money, but from the music he wants to make i.e. uninfluenced by the industry.

Yeah, but he's still making a lot of money.... and he's a bit sour that the fashion world didn't acknowledge him as he wanted them to.
But what does Fashion have to do with Hip Hop? I mean, don't get me wrong, he has some legitimate complaints like when he addresses those Illuminati theories and shit. and to a certain degree, he's fucking with those people's heads because they were foolish enough to believe in it. so, kudos to him for doing that. |

Also, I made the point that Kanye is still interested in making money, it's just he doesnt wanna sell his soul to do it. He's going to make a living off of his own unscathed artistry, rather than just giving into what the industry wants |
I wasn't dismissing what you were saying...
I was merely adding on to the other things that the album addresses. I'm not dissing his creativity but the way he markets himself because it counterdicts some of his messages in his songs. Or, at least, it does to me. |
