Quick key. I was thinking maybe part one could be the past, and part two could be the present. If so, I'll touch this up a bit.



as a young teen, sheltered from the glamour & glitz
only child w/ single parents, in that time - if the shoe fits..
..& i wore it as a badge with the other latch-keys
'cuz even though we were different, we shared similarities
introverted up until i was say, twenty or twenty-one
then the love-bug bit me & times became plenty fun
smoking weed, getting drunk, partying and fucking all night
no plans were ever made, took life as a mere flight
and i held it by the reins 'til it slipped out of my hand
when my girl said she was pregnant, it was time to be a man
no house, no car, and a low-paying job
low funds had me thinking ski-mask route and just rob
vast said it best - life's ill & sometimes life just might kill
but the past is the past & despite that ordeal
i have a healthy almost teenage son, ain't shit crazy?
gotta make sure he follows a different path than how pops raised me

Lemme know how you want to do this. I'll do some re-writing if so. I started my verse on the past and got about ten lines in and realized eventually I'd be writing a novel on the past, lol.
