What a waste. They should have taken all those characters over to netherrealms and said make a game before we fuck this up.

A waste? Idk about that, although they did make it much too easy to lose to someone who doesn't know how to play. It's much more accessible. The characters are well done, however.

EDIT: The new characters, a character who was on 2 and 3 is much better on 2.

3rd Strike was the SF I played most growing up, 'sides maybe CvS2 but, that's a crossover and not so much a SF..

But there's no possible way you could have EVER played -REAL- 3S and enjoy this game.

First of all: it's a shitty port of a shitty port. they claimed they were going to use an arcade perfect port - and they FUCKING PORTED THE DREAMCAST VERSION (which was really bad)

Second of all: if you ever played the game w/o lag you would know the netplay srsly unplayable. Even against people w/ good connections it is unplayable. They claim to have used the "GGPO" netcode, but, I remember playing 3S on GGPO and it didn't run as well as some other games (Vampire Savior was amazingly smooth on GGPO), but the console port of 3S online was god awful.


More on topic: NAQ - at your level of play I would think Marvel 3 would be a lot of fun? it's one of the easiest fighting games to pick up and play.. everyone's basic combo is relatively easy to do and the bull shit is minimum. You aren't pulled into the top tier vacuum of having to deal with/use characters like Vergil/Doom/Dante/Magneto/Zero/Spencer etc

The fights take longer to set up than to play.

Right now I got Wesker, Jill, and Nemesis or Doctor Strange. Wesker is the anchor, I switch Jill and Nemesis out as needed, sometimes they fail me. I also like Vergil, ofc. Chris sucks, he's too grounded. I don't play much online btw, which is why I like SF3 OE. I play my friends that I've played fighting games with since I was a kid. I tried playing it online, and you are correct in saying that the lag is almost always unbearable.

Oh and btw, trust me on that Wesker shit. Jill too, although I can't master her cancels. She goes into another speed after you do her cartwheel kick, and it throws off my rhythm. I'll get it eventually I just don't have time to only play that game.

I run Viper/Vergil/Hawkeye
I can also play Dante/Vergil/Magneto
And sometimes I run Nova/Spncer/Amaterasu

But I put lot less effort into marvel than I do games like GG/P4U

Yeah I hate netplay in 90% of games out, too. I still don't like 3SO for even offline as much tho, I can just feel the diff from the arcade/ps2l

Wesker is very strong. And lvl3 xfactor wesker is dumb. But the game has evolved away from Wesker dominance imo. A lot of popular characters now give him too much trouble. Morri Doom is an impossible hill for him to climb.. Vergil is very good against him.. any of the more mobile characters.. mags, nova, etc

He is a VERY strong point character still. Especially w beam assist support.

I throw Viper in there too for nostalgic purposes. That's who I played with on SF growing up, almost exclusively. And yes, you are correct in that the mobile characters can take Wesker out. If I get someone in a combo at the right time, however, it's a wrap. I also use my teammates to take out the Vergils and Zero type fighters. If Nemesis gets one in the air, I have learned how to juggle with him. and his juggles take a fuck ton of health down. Jill is one of the fastest characters in the game if you learn how to employ her speed boost. She also has a pseudo teleport. A lot of times I'll just keep Wesker in tho. His teleport, when used effectively, can be a thorn in any character's side.

I hate fighting a good Doom, btw.
