Im stuck choosing between a high fade or a medium fade

Note: I would have longer hair on top like the second picture, my dilema is just where to fade it

man no matter how many times I get faded my shit doesnt look that short, how many inches do you have them set the clippers on? my hair is usually long when it gets cut so its usually on 4.

My hair is probably only 2 inches long at the moment, im not doing it myself tho im going to a barber but im leaning towards the high fade just cause i want to grow the top long and slick it back

The first one's a skin fade. Maybe that's just regional lingo.
I fuck with that though usually, 5 on top with the skin fade

I cut my own hair and only do even all over but now I got these new clippers that's smooth as fuck. Think I'm gon try to taper fade my hair.

I speak from experience that not only can you experiment with your hair around a bit, giving it a new style.. you'll also let it grow for a while which means saving money because let's face it that "fresh-off-the-barbershop" fade in the 1st pic would probably last you a week or 2 and then it's back to the barbershop again, wasting your hard earned money. C'mon son!
