i probably couldn't even name 20 rap albums that came out this year.

you included most of the ones i happened to download

ACID RAP probably at the top of my list.
$amhill - the preface
doris
blue chips 2
old was tight. it took a while to grow on me though.
Einstein also had some cuts. Prodigy shocked me with that tbh.

yeezus and MCHG deserve mentions cause they might have been the only 2013-released albums i really listened to in depth other than those mentioned. Yeezus was better though.

uh-oh 12-13-2013 01:55 PM

props on knowing bout the $amhill shit. that was dope. not sure if that was this year or last year tho. but definately worthy of mention

i slept heavily this year. i thought yeezus was terrible. but i still gotta check that pusha and other shit. still never heard a chance the rapper track.

i'm gonna check shit from these lists tho

Bodey 12-14-2013 11:35 PM

i'm lovin this Acid Rap album as suggested by this thread. i feel foolish for just now discovering this. it's my type of shit for sure, needed something fresh lately. i was gonna peep everything but i havent been able to skip a track on this Chance dude. kinda hypnotic actually, so thanks

Joe Metts 12-14-2013 11:39 PM

RA had one of the better albums of the year.

Ghost1 12-14-2013 11:39 PM

Still adjusting to his horrible voice (acid rap guy)

But thanks to this thread i grabbed the lloyd banks, prodigy, ghostface & danny brown

Oh an earl.....i dont much like him...but i want to....

Tried to get Mensa shit but couldnt....same with ka.....i dont think i like ka tho

Had most of the rest

Solid list

Ghostface is soooo fire.

Split 12-15-2013 12:12 AM

Yea domo used to be nicer than earl

PancakeBrah 12-15-2013 12:18 AM

i can't stand earl's album. the amount of features...blech. i wanted a whole album of earl verses. instead i got a bunch of random faggots i don't want to hear, a little Tyler, and a dash of Earl.

son i am dissapoint.

Ghost1 12-15-2013 12:22 AM

There are like five guest appearances, and one of them is Vince Staples' ridiculously good verse on "Hive."

Also, @BagcakeBrah, I'm not even sure I've heard Ace Hood's album. I remember it coming out, but I think I was busy with work or something. I'll listen tonight or tomorrow or something.

The Domo Genesis-The Alchemist album, No Idols, came out in Summer 2012, but it was good.

PancakeBrah 12-15-2013 12:44 AM

You're an Earl apologist, Certain.

Certain 12-15-2013 01:01 AM

The album actually let me down a little as a whole, particularly since some of the best tracks are some of the oldest.

The guest appearances are not good for the most part. There are more than I remembered. Mac Miller sounds like if someone without talent tried to imitate Earl Sweatshirt on that track. Tyler, the Creator has never been able to hang with the best rappers in his group. Frank Ocean should stick to singing, though he is decent at rapping. Having Frank Ocean's cousin (SK Laflare) open the album was weird, though his verse was OK. Domo Genesis and Vince Staples handle their business on two guest spots each.

Your criticism is fair, though. My bigger one is the beats are kind of murky and don't allow any of the tracks to feel different.

But Earl Sweatshirt has my favorite style of anyone going right now, a few bad decisions on his first studio album notwithstanding.

PancakeBrah 12-15-2013 01:50 AM

Tyler's verse was dope.

Earl loses me sometimes. He's so good. But sometimes it's just...eh.

Certain 12-15-2013 01:52 AM

Did you listen to Wolf? That might have topped Eminem's new album for Album Trying To Sound Like The Marshall Mathers LP.
