Ipod not going past the start up screen, help?

So my ipod 4G was working fine then it died. I put it up to charge on the charging stand. I saw the silver apple start up screen pop up and left the room to go eat. Couple mins later i come back to see it on there still wtf? I took it off the stand and put it next to me waiting. It stayed on the silver apple startup for extra 5 mins then i noticed it flashed white, it crashed restarted and did the same thing. I even manually rebooted it pressing home and sleep buttons at same time but it keeps staying on start up.

HELP PLEASE

Just leave it on your charger for a while. It'll prolly fix itself. Mine does stupid shit to
