A football fans opinion on this..

Something I've always pondered(no Christian)..

If ur a star player.. or highly respected/talented.. & u get a season ending injury SUPER early on in the season.. then that team wins the big one.. how do u go about the ring???

Do u feel as tho u should accept the SB ring & say u were part of that SB winning team, even tho u were hurt & didn't do shit, & wasn't there for the run??

Lardarius Webb comes to mind, from last year.

How does a player like that go about that?

Never could wrap my mind around it... I've thought about this a few times over the past decade or so.

Thoughts?

well webb didn't get injured until the cowboys game.. I believed tht was week 6?

so he contributed that season to the team.

me personally, I'd feel like I dnt deserve it but I believe someone would bring that logic to me. would I listen, no.. but I'd likely feel a hellva lot better hearing it

uh-oh 12-09-2013 11:47 AM

if your in team meetings, if your at practice, if your doing everything everyone else does you absolutely deserve it.

webb for example was a leader in the secondary, after reed. he helped coach up jimmy smith and graham and etc. he's our best corner

if coaches get rings, which they do, then they should feel they deserve the ring too

i remember a giants super bowl, where shockey was in the bar at the stadium. he doesnt deserve a ring in my opinion. stand on your sideline with your team, help coach em up

Very interesting take.

the fucking water boy gets a ring

of course you do

uh-oh 12-09-2013 01:01 PM

i read an article about the ravens last year, they gave a bunch of non essential dudes rings, like the guy who is there main reporter/writer. all the staff got rings

but waterboys/toweldudes didnt get anything

pretty much everyone else did, but the way the article put it, steve bisciotti was super generous, most owners only have rings made for actual coaches and players

pretty much every staff member got one in baltimore tho

Untold 12-09-2013 01:04 PM

case in point Deuce McAllister played for the Saints for a numerous amount of seasons and NEVER made it to the SB with them but was on the "roster" during the game.

by that time Deuce hadn't played a game with the Saints since 2008… i personally feel that if a play put that much time and effort, career included, sit in on meetings, on the sidelines for every game and was an integral part of the team, even with injury and all, then they should definitely claim that ring and wear it PROUDLY!

it's like winning an NBL season due to a no show lol (not really n terrible analogy, but u see where i'm going)… homies still gonna rock that season champ victory cuz obviously they fought hard the entire season to get that far.. word?

seas payton was the same way with the Saints Super Bowl rings… even the janitor staff got himself one. i think certain teams have that type of aspect to them because it's beyond a job… it's loyalty

I beleive in the nba they give rings to the janitors lol

Every one directly associated with the team gets one.

What if you just got traded to that team?

Like you didnt help them get therr but you do contribute during the playoff run?

Strikta 12-09-2013 02:14 PM

I def think someone traded or acquired for a playoff run definitely deserves one... but like if SA woulda got one last year.. TMac woulda wore his proudly.. lol & he didn't do shit.

Even the benchwarmers get rings. Do they really *deserve* them? No...but I'm not gonna be mad at them taking one. Realistically speaking, you could have 10 rings and never make the hall of fame...so really what's a piece of jewelry. You can buy replicas on ebay for a couple hundred

Don't downplay coaches, man. They're an integral part of the team.

Fart 12-09-2013 03:47 PM

all the players who never played a down in the season get rings too. so..

Strikta 12-09-2013 03:56 PM

This has nothing really to do w/ those players tho.. I mean u have to think they are in practice every week mimicking defenses & getting guys ready.

I'm talking about stars/talent that can't perform because of injury.. contributing next to nothing.. if nothing at all.. because of that injury.

uh-oh had a good(the best so far) justification because he said they could act as coaches & be w/ the team everywhere they go, instead of sitting on their ass at the crib in Miami(example).

THAT type of hurt player deserves the ring too, imo. Yes.

Pent uP 12-09-2013 04:27 PM

Even the cheerleaders get rings

Fart 12-09-2013 06:14 PM

i DO think the credentials for getting a ring should be established. Like whoever said they injured guy was at the stadium's bar during the game...shouldnt get one imo. The injured guys still motivating and leading the team should def. get one
CHEERLEADERS SHOULD NOT. THEY ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO RECEIVE TRAINS BY THE SPECIAL TEAMS. FUCKIN WHORES

Meth 12-09-2013 08:57 PM

Everyone gets a ring dude.

When the Packers win the Super Bowl all the share holders get rings.

And there's a ton.

Anyone who works for the organization gets a ring.

My aunt has a ring from the 1968 cardinal season.

She was a peanut vendor lol.

Fart 12-09-2013 09:39 PM

Im about to buy some packers stocks
